Projects - Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta
For more than a century, Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta has been one of the main philanthropic bodies of the Atlanta Jewish community. Federation has evolved from being primarily a fundraising organization to the convener of a dynamic Jewish ecosystem. Atlanta continues to be a magnet for young Jewish professionals and families, offering great employment opportunities and a remarkable infrastructure of schools, synagogues and Jewish organizations. Their mission is to work towards a thriving and connected 21st Century Jewish Atlanta where every Jew and their loved ones can access warm and caring Jewish community, timeless Jewish wisdom, global Jewish peoplehood, and Jewish ways to do good in the world. We value compassion, diversity, generosity, and commitment to Jewish values and to our people worldwide. As such, Federation welcomes all interfaith, LGBT+, and multiracial individuals and families, along with people of all abilities.
Adopt-A-Savta pairs young adults with lonely elderly. It’s a Community of ‘Grandchildren’ Adopting Lonely ‘Grandparents’ across Israel. Working off of the Big Brother/Big Sister model, young volunteers “adopt” a grandmother or grandfather that is in need of love and attention for weekly visitations. The goal is to train as many volunteers as possible and to connect these two communities; young adults seeking to make meaningful contributions with intergenerational contact, and the lonely elderly in need of warmth and connection while we still are blessed with the presence of this holy generation (SDG-10).
