Zikaron BaSalon Stories – Part I

This week, we would like to introduce you to another one of the organizations in our Local Model: Zikaron BaSalon Europe.
Zikaron BaSalon is a social initiative which centers around the Israeli Holocaust Memorial Day and around various other dates around the world. Literally meaning “remembrance in the living room” in Hebrew, the idea was born from the understanding that the connection between today’s society and the memories of the Holocaust, has significantly deteriorated. During this past year, with the global pandemic, Zikaron BaSalon understood that it is important to speak to the Holocaust survivors on a more regular basis, and so we will be having our volunteers from around the world calling the survivors once a week. Each volunteer will be assigned one survivor and they will be responsible to be in touch with them once a week for a phone call for at least one hour. The purpose of these calls is to help the survivors who are feeling lonely and who have been closed in their homes since March 2020.
Incredible, no? Who would like to join this amazing initiative?
